As a participant in the Moderna Study, I received the first dose of the experimental mRNA-1273-P301 vaccine on August 14th, 2020, followed by the second dose on September 11th, 2020. Moderna is currently studying a brand new version of the mRNA-1273-P205 booster which I received on July 12th, 2022. This formula has been specifically engineered to address some of the variants (specifically B.1.351-"South Africa" and B.1.617.2-"Delta.") I am one of 306 participants currently participating in a safety and immunogenicity study of Moderna's high dose (100 µg) booster that was designed to anticipate mutations such as those that have emerged in the B.1.1.529 "Omicron" variant. [Read more here.]
My official inoculation status was revealed to me on March 10th, 2021. As a participant in the ongoing vaccine study, diagnostic blood tests will continue every every six months to monitor and ensure proper antibody load.
After receiving the priming dose on August 14th, 2020, I experienced nothing more than injection site pain. But after receiving the second dose on September 11th, 2020, I was left with more severe side effects.
Following the second dose, I had a low-grade fever for three days.
[I typically run low within the range of 97.2º - 98.1º]
Friday 98.8°
Saturday 99.2°
Sunday 98.8°
Monday 98.4°
I slept for 10.5 hours on both Friday and Saturday nights. I experienced fatigue and muscle pain in addition to the fever but it was important for me to remember that I was not falling sick. My body was doing exactly what was intended by mounting an immune response. And the effects did not last long — not nearly as long as they would had I been infected with the virus. I had a rough sixteen hours but was fully recovered within two days.
After receiving the booster (in July 2021,) I had some muscle soreness and of course injection site pain. But I never had a fever and the effects lasted for a much shorter duration than they dIid the first time around.
Feel free to read more information on Moderna Vaccine Efficacy and now, also with The Delta Variant.
