The state of New York mandates that a Licensed Massage Therapist undergo training which consists of classroom instruction with a total of not less than 1000 hours of specific coursework in anatomy, physiology, neurology, myology, kinesiology, pathology, hygiene, first aid, CPR, infection control procedures, as well as the theory, technique, and practice of both Eastern and Western massage & bodywork therapy. In addition to classroom hours, the state demands a minimum of 150 hours of practical, hands-on work.
